  • MISSOURI

The next day, we flew into Kansas City. So, remember I said I thought the 30 passenger plane was small? Now I got to experience a 18 passenger plane... this was interesting. I was too tired to have any phobias at this point. I was met by Andie the MO GBHQ. She held up a sign that she had made with a picture of a penguin (with a crown on her head) and it said “Welcome to Mooossouri, Meghan Garibay SBHQ 05-06!” It was so cute and I loved it! We went and had a bite to eat and then made a stop by Wal-Mart. But get this; we were in and out in 7 minutes! New record huh!? After that we spent some time at Andie’s before we met with Mrs. Windbiel, Mrs. Frakes and the GG and AGG for lunch. Then Andie and I were off again to finish packing her things into her moms van for the weekend. We got to the ELMS hotel where the Mini-Grand Session was to be held. I spent the time helping Andie get things into place, by folding shirts, moving boxes and whatever else I could do to help her get things done. We took a break to have dinner. She really is a very hard worker, and she gives her all. I was quite impressed with Andie. The next day really didn’t start until noon so I got ready and went to meet up with Mr. and Mrs. Smiley and Mrs. Windbiel around 11 am before the activities started. After lunch we all met in the conference room for short introductions and rules before the “super-secret” outdoor activities. It was so much fun and racing with the girls in the inflatable obstacle course! Even the adults had to participate! They were hysterical and so competitive!!! We had a little time to relax before dinner and a dance. The next morning I said my goodbyes, but not before golf sized hail fell from the sky, and the staff came in to give us instructions on what to do if the sirens went off because of the tornados. Everyone was calm except Mrs. Windbiel and I because this was nothing new to any of them. All I ever got used to was earthquakes and flash floods! Later, I drove with the Peipers family to St. Louis where I would meet Mrs. Windbiel the next day.
